I worked as a biologist for the University of Texas System after I got my degree but found it was no fun to survive on a biologist’s pay. After a life that largely revolved around nature, being a biologist was a natural progression.
I did get away from much of that when I had to enter the real workforce. Over the past few years, I have circled back to the joy that being outdoors and observing nature brings. That was matched by a return to the joy of photography, as well. The combination has become a daily activity.
A few years ago I became a Texas Master Naturalist and enjoyed working with that program.
Besides my activities with nature photography, I also maintain a website, East Texas Naturalist, that includes blogs, photos, and other information about nature in this area.
