Floating

I watched today

As couples made their way

From their cars to the beach

Some holding hands

Others allowing their shoulders

To brush against one another

Laughing now and then

Sharing the moment

Sharing a life

It was no different at the mall

Where I went

To find some shirts

They were there, too

Nudging

Pointing at this or that

Touching

Together in a way

I cannot even remember

I am on the outside again

Life’s flotsam, jetsam, detritus

Floating in the stream

Far behind the boat

Far, far behind

mfm

It’s not home

(Just got off the phone with a new one; maybe a very special one,

who used the word “detritus” – Valerie Davis – intelligent and aware.

What a combination. . . )
